"LA BOR ..DAY "

Labor Day Parade September 9, 2006
The Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 28. Labor Day Parade was on Saturday, September 9, 2006, we assembly at West 45th street between 5th and 6th Ave, at 11:00 AM. 10 foot sandwich's feed the people that attended , there was plenty of food and drink for all. Local Union No. 28 Sheet Metal Worker contingents proudly marched up Fifth Avenue outfitted with Blue T-shirts and Blue hats displaying our Logo.. The Local's contingents of 300 members included a Float, and Contractors Sheet Metal Truck.
Most Of the children were on a Sheet Metal Truck chanting "mighty, mighty Union" Local 28... Local28 ". As Usual Local 28 was the highlight of the parade. Every member there felt the pride and the full meaning of Unionism by being part of the Local 28 team.
Highlights of the parade included a large Float. The base of the float was made by Danny Fox.
With the supervision of the Instructors, at "The Nicholas Maldarelli Apprenticeship Training Center" the Apprentices quickly went into action working together, side by side to create large Letters " USA " made out of sheet metal duct The Letters "U S A" were five feet high and was then assemble on the float. Flames, made of copper were added to the letters and Buildings made of stainless steel and copper also were added to give the float its great effect. Instructor Artie Tyburski was the designer of the project, "Nice Job Artie". As always the Moderator at this year Labor Day Parade was our own retired brother George Andrucki who did a great job.

The Labor Day Parade this year will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2005. Local 28 will meet on 46th Street between 5th & 6th Avenue at 11:30 a.m. It is important to show our solidarity.
