Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association
Contractor members of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA) write the industry's technical manuals and standards that define excellence and ensure measures of quality. The internationally recognized association develops technical standards and guidelines for the design community in specifying sheet metal installations and for the fabrication and installation of HVAC, architectural and specialty sheet metal systems.
International Training Institute
The International Training Institute (ITI) sponsored by Sheet Metal Worker's International Association (SMWIA) and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA), conducts its training through 170 local, jointly-funded Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committees (JATCs) in the U.S. and Canada.
National Center for Energy Management and Building Technologies
The National Center improves the efficiency, productivity and security of the U.S. building stock by developing and disseminating synergistic and complementary solutions to energy management, indoor environmental quality and security concerns in new and existing buildings. This is done by supporting research, participating in standard setting, advancing technical training and professional education and serving as a repository of information on economic, technical and public policy issues. The National Center acts a resource to Federal agencies, state and local governments, building owners, the HVAC industry and consumers.
Sheet Metal Occupational Health Institute Trust
SMOHIT is a Joint Labor Management Trust whose mission is to provide industry leading health and safety solutions to minimize occupational illnesses and injuries for sheet metal craftsmen.
Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau
The Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau (TABB) is committed to the welfare of the general public, engineers, building owners and design professionals to assure that all building environmental systems are installed properly and all systems are adjusted to these design specifications. TABB Certified Professionals subscribe to a strict Code of Conduct and pledge to regularly upgrade their skill level to meet cutting-edge technological advances in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry.
National Energy Management Institute
The National Energy Management Institute (NEMI) is a not for profit organization sponsored by the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association (SMWIA) and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA). The mission of NEMI is to identify emerging markets and employment opportunities and to develop programs to capitalize on them. This mission encompasses a sense of purpose, a sense of community, a sense of commitment and a pledge to the future.
